Bar/Bat Mitzvah Program

Hod Ve-Hadar provides a very special experience to those interested in celebrating their Bar or Bat Mitzvah with us.

The congregation enables these boys and girls, and their families, to take part in a study group which prepares them for this significant occasion and give them a wider backround and familiarity with Judaism.

In addition to our more mature teachers, we have among our post-Bar Mitzvah youth, those who are well trained and can teach the aspirants the Bar Mitzvah skills needed to read the Maftir and the Haftorah.

Bar/Bat mitzvah class

We offer the possibility of having the Bar or Bat Mitzvah service either Shabbat morning (Shacharit) or evening (Mincha), in addition to Shacharit on Mondays or Thursdays. On Shabbat morning our own congregation joins in the celebration to welcome the young person into the Jewish adult world.

On the practical side, we have a beautifully appointed sanctuary. Our building can also accomodate 100-120 people for a sit-down/stand-up kiddush/meal.
